What you should always buy with your credit card

When you apply for a credit card, it's important to decide how you plan on using it before you even sign up. If you already have a credit card and you're trying to choose the best way to manage your funds, it's a good idea to know when to swipe that plastic. Here are some things that you should always charge to your credit card.

High-priced items

Any significant purchase like appliances, computers, and similar items are worth charging to your card. Not only will you benefit from easy repayments, but you can also receive an extended warranty. These items have a high price tag which means that you might not have the cash to pay for it in full. When your refrigerator suddenly breaks, a speedy replacement is essential, and this is where your credit card will come to the rescue.

Services rendered

When you pay for any kind of service, you can enjoy added peace of mind by using your credit card. For example, if you have tiles installed in your kitchen, you might be happy with the initial results. However, after a week or so,  you might notice flaws like cracks in the grouting. If you paid using any other method, there's not usually much you can do about poor service. However, if you pay with your credit card, the service provider also agrees to the terms of your credit card. This means that if the work is not done to your satisfaction, you can dispute the charge! This is one more reason for them to do the work right the first time or, offer an immediate solution if there are any issues.

Fragile items

When you purchase anything that is particularly delicate or could break after just one bump, it's a good idea to pay for it using your credit card. Should that gorgeous new vase find its way onto the floor instead of its intended spot in your home, you might be able to recover at least some of the money you spent. Check with your credit card company regarding any such coverage on these items and accidental damage.

Travel

Travelling is a luxury and should only be done when funds allow for this kind of spending. It's not a good idea to use your credit card to pay for a trip if it's not within your budget. If you have the cash or at least most of the cash needed to pay for a holiday, then it's worth charging your card and making a large payment into your credit card. Essentially, you have used your savings to pay for the trip, but you will enjoy all the travel benefits offered by your credit card company. For example, many cards offer car rental insurance, travel accident insurance, lost luggage insurance, and more!

Recurring charges

If you have any regular charges then it's worth running them through your credit card instead of any other bank card. This is because there is always the chance that you will cancel your subscription or membership and the company will continue charging you. You can call the company to reimburse you and stop all future charges, but some companies are particularly sneaky. If you don't get anywhere with the company directly, you need only make a call to your credit card company and they will put the breaks on those charges immediately. You can also take up disputes with your credit card company if the service provider or vendor does not adhere to your requests.

PayPal

When you sign up wth PayPal, you will be able to choose your payment method. The site somewhat funnels you towards using your bank account details, but this is not the best option. If you use your credit card instead, you will enjoy far more benefits and security with all of your payments. This is because stricter rules apply to credit card transactions than regular bank account transactions. In the event of any fraudulent activity or if you need to dispute any transactions, you will have your mighty credit card company on your side.

With all of these tips in mind, it's also good to note that some credit cards offer special bonuses or even cash back on certain transactions. So, if your credit card offers a high cash back bonus on gas or grocery purchases, then these are also worth charging as long as you pay them off each month and don't spend more on groceries than you usually would when using your debit card.
